Juvederm Vs Botox

We get the question all the time- What is Juvederm? What is Botox? What is the difference between Juvederm and botox? How long do they last? Does it hurt? How much does it cost? Here are the answers to your questions:

Botox cosmetic is a purified protein that works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, fine lines, and folds. It’s great for reversing the aged look brought on by wrinkles, and is also used as a preventive measure by younger patients avoiding the emergence of wrinkles. Botox is more frequently used in the forehead, cheek bones, and around the eyes to eliminate and prevent the lines caused by expression. Juvederm facial fillers are sterile gels made from the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid – a natural sugar found in skin. It works by filling in the grooves and lines thereby eliminating wrinkles and smoothing out your skin. Juvederm is more frequently used to treat the lips, chin, and smile lines (or parenthesis lines). Juvederm softens, fills, plumps, and eliminates the expression lines by replacing the lost tissue naturally depleted with age. Juvederm is a slightly more natural option, in both look and feel, and offers longer lasting results. How long do they last? Both treatments work fast and the results are noticeable within a couple of days after your session. Both treatments are capable of providing natural-looking results and it all depends on the expertise of your specialist. Both injectables get safely absorbed by the body over time, so the results are not permanent. You can expect Botox results to last anywhere between 3 months - 6 months; juvederm usually lasts 9 months to a full 12 months. Juvederm results may also depend on the concentration of hyaluronic acid and have been found to have even longer lasting results (up to several years) in our own patients with no maintenance.

Does Botox & Juvederm injections hurt? Ok guys, lets be honest, It’s no foot massage. But it’s also not as bad as people think. Our patients have said, when asked: Botox feels more like a shot, whereas Juvederm is a lighter pinch, therefor less painful. Juvederm also contains lidocaine- an anesthetic- so any light pain almost immediately dissipates. While Juvederm, botox, and other dermal filler injections do cause some discomfort, we try to make our patients as comfortable as possible so the pain is minimal. Dr. Volcks expertise ensures that the procedure is quick and results are long lasting. When asked, every patient also stated that any slight pain was well worth the results.
